Since the diffuser decreases lift and reduces drag, the overall aerodynamic efficiency is improved. The diffuser strakes help create vortices that keep flow attached to the diffuser surface. The diffuser creates a low-pressure zone where the diffuser is located and also creates a lower pressure zone in the middle of the chassis. This equates to a small change in aerodynamic balance.
