Overview

Turn your Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T into something that actually justifies the “turbo” badge. The Tomioka Racing TD06-20G Turbo Upgrade (TR-TG1001) is the largest direct bolt-on turbo available for the factory 2.0T manifold and downpipe flange. 

Built around a TD06-20G wheel set with genuine MHI journal bearing internals, this turbo is designed to support up to 500 HP with the right fuel system and tuning, while still retaining reasonable spool for a street-driven Genesis. 

If you’ve outgrown the stock turbo and you’re tired of it falling on its face up top, this is the logical step before going to a full custom/rotated setup.

Why upgrade from the stock Genesis 2.0T turbo?

The factory Genesis Coupe 2.0T turbo is small. It’s fine for mild bolt-ons, but:

  • It runs out of airflow quickly at higher RPM

  • It heats the charge air and approaches overspeed if you push it harder

  • Power flattens out instead of pulling through the top of the rev range

The TD06-20G upgrade fixes that by giving you:

  • Much more compressor and turbine flow (52.5/68 mm compressor, 61/54 mm turbine)

  • Headroom for serious power gains (up to ~500 HP with supporting mods and tune) 

  • A turbo that still bolts to the OEM manifold, downpipe flange and oil/water connections

Bottom line: you get real top-end power and room to grow without fabricating an entirely new turbo system.

These dimensions put the turbo firmly in “serious build” territory – big enough to move real air, but not so large that the car becomes a lag monster.

Everything is designed for the stock-location bolt-on install on a Genesis Coupe 2.0T.

Required supporting mods & tuning (read this)

This turbo will happily support power the stock fuel system and tune cannot support. Plan on at least:

  • ECU tune (mandatory – do not run this turbo hard on a stock tune)

  • High-flow downpipe and exhaust

  • Upgraded intercooler (front-mount or high-efficiency core)

  • Intake system sized for the airflow / MAF or MAP scaling

  • Fuel pump and injectors sized for your power and fuel (pump gas vs E85/mix)

  • Boost control solution (good 3-port EBCS if you’re going past actuator pressure)

For higher power, expect to also need:

  • Stronger clutch or upgraded automatic transmission tuning/components

  • Better cooling (radiator, oil cooler) if you track the car

If someone wants 500 HP without budget for supporting parts and tuning, this is the wrong part for them.

Installation notes

  • Professional installation is strongly recommended – this is not a “driveway in an hour” job.

  • Always pre-lube and prime the turbo (crank with fuel/ignition disabled) before first start.

  • Double-check oil feed, oil return and coolant connections for leaks before road-testing.

  • Get the car tuned immediately after installation and avoid full boost pulls until the tune is finalized.

Positioning vs other options

Use this in your sales copy / Q&A if needed:

  • If the customer wants stock-like power with a little bump, they don’t need this.

  • If they want a dependable 350–450+ WHP street/track car and are willing to do fuel, exhaust, intercooler and tuning properly, this TD06-20G is in the right window.

  • If they want 600+ HP, they should stop pretending they’re doing a “bolt-on” build and move to a bigger custom or rotated setup.

Warranty

Limited Warranty

Tomioka Racing (TR) guarantees its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the original retail purchaser. The warranty period is one (1) year from the date of the original purchase unless otherwise noted. Specific warranty periods for certain products include:

  • Lightweight Batteries: Two (2) years.
  • Transmission Parts: Ninety (90) days.

This warranty applies only to products purchased directly from Tomioka Racing or an authorized dealer. Proof of purchase is required to process any warranty claim.

Return Policy

Products may be returned within 15 days from the date of delivery. Returns not due to Tomioka Racing's mistake will incur a 25% restocking fee. All returned items must be in new and unused condition, and shipping fees are non-refundable.

Warranty Exclusions

This warranty does not cover any product or component in the following situations:

  • The product has been used for competition or racing.
  • Misuse, abuse, improper maintenance, or neglect of the product.
  • Repairs attempted or performed by unauthorized individuals or facilities.
  • Damage caused by normal wear and tear or the product being a consumable.
  • Alterations or modifications made to the product.
  • The product has been involved in an accident.
  • Use of the product contrary to Tomioka Racing’s installation and usage guidelines.

Warranty Limitations

The warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective product or part, at Tomioka Racing’s discretion. This coverage does not extend to:

  • Removal or reinstallation costs.
  • Any other vehicle components, systems, or consequential damages resulting from product failure.
  • Claims for a full system or kit when only a part or component is defective.

Tomioka Racing DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A SPECIFIC PURPOSE. Under no circumstances shall Tomioka Racing be liable for any incidental, indirect, specific, or consequential damages arising from the purchaser’s use of the product.

How to File a Warranty Claim

To ensure a seamless claim process, follow these steps:

  • Identify the Issue: Work with the Authorized Tomioka Racing Dealer to determine if the issue is caused by:An inspection fee will be charged for items found to be free from manufacturing defects.
  • Obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number:
  • Prepare Documentation: Include the following with your returned item:
  • Ship the Product: Package the product securely using the original or equivalent packaging to prevent damage during transit. Tomioka Racing is not responsible for products returned without a clearly marked RMA number or return address.

Claim Review Process

Allow 6-8 weeks for inspection and determination of the warranty claim. If the product is deemed defective, Tomioka Racing will repair or replace it at no charge. For claims that do not qualify, the customer will be informed, and repair/replacement options may be offered at their expense.

Additional Notes

Products damaged during transit must be addressed with the carrier. Retain all original packaging to file claims with the carrier if necessary.
