Exhaust Systems - Test Pipes, Downpipes & High-Flow Exhaust

Unlock hidden horsepower with high-flow exhaust systems. From test pipes to downpipes and complete cat-back systems, our exhaust upgrades deliver proven power gains, improved sound, and better throttle response.

Why Upgrade Your Exhaust?

  • Power Gains: 15-35 HP depending on application
  • Torque Increase: 10-30 lb-ft improved mid-range
  • Better Sound: Aggressive exhaust note without drone
  • Reduced Backpressure: Engine breathes easier
  • Improved Throttle Response: Faster acceleration
  • Weight Reduction: Lighter than stock systems

Exhaust System Types

Test Pipes (Catalytic Converter Delete)

What They Are: Straight-through pipes that replace restrictive catalytic converters for maximum exhaust flow.

Best For: Naturally aspirated engines (VQ, K-series, etc.)

Power Gains: 15-25 HP, 10-20 lb-ft torque

Featured Product: Berk Technology Resonated Test Pipes

  • Fitment: 2009-2019 370Z, 2007-2008 350Z, 2007-2015 G37/G35
  • Material: 304 stainless steel
  • Design: Resonated (no drone!)
  • CEL Fix: Built-in O2 sensor bungs
  • Gains: 15-20 HP, 10-15 lb-ft
  • Sound: Deep, aggressive, no rasp

Important: Test pipes are for off-road/track use only. Will not pass emissions testing.

Downpipes (Turbo Applications)

What They Are: High-flow exhaust pipes connecting turbocharger to mid-pipe/cat-back exhaust.

Best For: Turbocharged engines (WRX, GTI, Civic 1.5T, etc.)

Power Gains: 15-30 HP, 20-40 lb-ft torque

Popular Downpipes:

  • Honda Civic 1.5T (FK7, FC1, FC3): 3" high-flow downpipe, 20-30 HP gains
  • Honda Accord K24 9th Gen: Race downpipe, improved turbo spool
  • Subaru WRX FA20: J-pipe replacement, 25-35 HP gains
  • BMW B46/B48: 3" downpipe for 120i-730i models
  • VW/Audi 2.0T: High-flow downpipe for GTI, Golf R, A3, A4

Catted vs. Catless:

  • Catted (High-Flow Cat): Emissions-legal in most states, quieter, 10-20 HP gains
  • Catless: Maximum flow, louder, 20-30 HP gains, off-road only

Headers (Naturally Aspirated)

What They Are: Replace restrictive factory exhaust manifolds with free-flowing tubular headers.

Best For: NA engines seeking maximum power

Power Gains: 10-20 HP, improved mid-range torque

Available Headers:

  • D-Series Header: For Honda Civic D15/D16 engines
  • K-Series TSX/Accord Header: For K24 engines
  • B-Series Header: For Integra/Civic B16/B18

Installation Guide

Difficulty Levels

  • Test Pipes: Moderate (2-3 hours, jack stands required)
  • Downpipes: Moderate (2-4 hours, jack stands required)
  • Headers: Advanced (4-6 hours, engine access required)

Tools Needed

  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket set (metric)
  • Penetrating oil (PB Blaster)
  • Torque wrench
  • New gaskets
  • Anti-seize compound

Professional Installation

Cost: $150-400 depending on complexity. Most performance shops can install exhaust components.

Tuning Requirements

Test Pipes (NA engines): Tuning recommended but not required. May throw CEL without tune.

Downpipes (Turbo engines): Tuning HIGHLY recommended. Gains are maximized with proper ECU calibration. Expect +10-15 HP additional with tune.

Tuning Options:

  • Cobb Accessport (WRX, GTI, etc.)
  • Hondata/KTuner (Honda/Acura)
  • Uprev/ECUtek (Nissan/Infiniti)
  • Custom dyno tune (best results)

Sound Comparison

Stock Exhaust: Quiet, refined, boring

High-Flow Cats: Moderate volume increase, deeper tone, minimal drone

Resonated Test Pipes: Loud, aggressive, no drone (Berk Technology)

Non-Resonated Test Pipes: VERY loud, raspy, highway drone

Catless Downpipe: Loud turbo sounds, aggressive exhaust note

Legal Considerations

Emissions Testing:

  • Test pipes: Will NOT pass (off-road only)
  • Catless downpipes: Will NOT pass (off-road only)
  • High-flow cats: May pass (check CARB approval)
  • Catted downpipes: Usually pass

Noise Regulations: Check local sound ordinances. Some areas have dB limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I throw a check engine light?
A: Possibly. Berk test pipes include CEL fix. Downpipes may need O2 spacers or tuning to prevent CEL.

Q: How much louder will it be?
A: Test pipes: 15-20 dB increase. Downpipes: 10-15 dB increase. Resonated options reduce drone.

Q: Can I pass emissions?
A: Test pipes and catless downpipes: No. High-flow cats and catted downpipes: Usually yes.

Q: Do I need a tune?
A: Recommended for all, required for turbo applications to maximize gains.

Q: Will this void my warranty?
A: Possibly. Modifications can affect warranty coverage. Check with dealer.

Q: What's the best exhaust mod for my car?
A: NA engines: Test pipes. Turbo engines: Downpipe. Both deliver best HP/$ ratio.
