The undesirable consequence of forced induction is blow-by, an unavoidable occurrence. When pressurized gases circulate through the PCV system, they carry oil particles, resulting in the coating of your intake system and intake valves with oil. Over time, this buildup can lead to carbon accumulation on the valves, reducing octane levels in the combustion chamber by introducing oil into the air/fuel mixture. Direct injection engines, such as the FA24DIT in your 22+ WRX, are particularly susceptible to severe carbon buildup on the intake valves. To address these concerns, the Mishimoto Baffled Oil Catch Can serve as an effective solution by separating the oil mixture from the air that is being recirculated back into your intake system.

As air enters the catch can, it passes through a 50-micron bronze filter and an air diverter baffle. These components work together to capture and condense the oily particles until they become heavy enough to drip into the canister for collection. This process ensures that the air flowing back into your intake system remains clean and ready to be burned once again. The kit includes a billet 6061 aluminum can with black CNC-machined aluminum fittings, a direct-fit steel powder-coated bracket, pre-formed application-specific hoses, and all the necessary hardware for a seamless installation. Maintaining your 2022+ WRX system becomes effortless, as the can is fully washable, eliminating the need for replacing the filtration system.

It is important to note that our catch cans differ from most air-oil-separator (AOS) systems. Unlike heated AOS systems that drain blow-by back into the oil pan, our catch cans effectively trap the blow-by and permanently keep it out of the engine. This includes low-octane oil vapors and contaminated fuel vapors that can condense within the can.
