The Battery Tender® eCharge 32 Amp Level 1+2 is the most flexible EV charger in the eCharge lineup — operating at 120V Level 1 from any standard outlet or switching to 240V Level 2 for full-speed charging at home. Energy Star certified for maximum charging efficiency, the eCharge 32 Amp Level 1+2 is the right choice for drivers who need Level 2 speed at home but want the flexibility of Level 1 when 240V is not available.
Level 1 and Level 2: The Key Difference
Level 1 charging runs on 120V household current and delivers approximately 1.9 kW — practical for overnight PHEV charging or daily EV range top-ups for low-mileage drivers. Level 2 charging runs on 240V and at 32 Amps delivers approximately 7.7 kW — adding roughly 20–25 miles of driving range per hour. A depleted mid-range EV battery that takes 40+ hours to recover at Level 1 recovers fully in 8–10 hours at Level 2. For most EV drivers with meaningful daily mileage, Level 2 is the practical standard for home charging.
Why Dual-Voltage Flexibility Matters
A dedicated hardwired Level 2 charger operates at 240V only and cannot be used anywhere that 240V is unavailable. The eCharge 32 Amp Level 1+2 operates at Level 1 wherever a standard outlet is available — travel, secondary properties, temporary situations, or any location where 240V has not been installed — and delivers full Level 2 speed where 240V is accessible. For drivers who charge at more than one location, dual-voltage capability eliminates the need for separate Level 1 and Level 2 equipment.

Actual range added per hour varies by vehicle onboard charger capacity and battery efficiency. Vehicle onboard charger capacity is the limiting factor — a vehicle with a 7.2 kW onboard charger will charge at a maximum of 7.2 kW regardless of the station's output rating.
J1772 Standard Connector
The J1772 connector is the North American standard for Level 1 and Level 2 EV charging, compatible with all non-Tesla electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids sold in North America. No adapter is required for J1772-compatible vehicles across all major domestic and international manufacturers.
Energy Star Certified
The eCharge 32 Amp Level 1+2 is Energy Star certified — meeting EPA energy efficiency guidelines for EV charging equipment at both voltage levels. Electrical Requirements for Level 2
